On the afternoon of July 5, the inaugural Alumni Representative Meeting and the establishment ceremony of the Alumni Association of the School of Marine Science and Technology at Tianjin University were grandly held in the seventh conference room of the Wei Jiu Road campus. Over 80 alumni representatives from across the country, alongside faculty and student representatives from the school, gathered to witness the founding of the Alumni Association.

Attendees included Gu Yu, Deputy Director of the Office of Alumni Affairs, Qian Shushan, President of the Changzhou Alumni Association, Lu Jing, Secretary-General of the Beijing Alumni Association, as well as all members of the leadership team from the School of Marine Science and Technology, faculty, student representatives, and alumni representatives. The meeting was hosted by Jin Nan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School.

The meeting officially commenced with the solemn and respectful rendition of the national anthem. Gu Yu delivered the opening remarks, extending warm congratulations on the establishment of the Alumni Association of the School of Marine Science and Technology on behalf of the Alumni Association. He emphasized the crucial role of alumni relations in the development of the School.

Gu noted that the establishment of the Alumni Association represents an important milestone in the School's development, serving as a solid link for emotional connections among alumni. The creation of the association will provide a platform for information exchange, resource sharing, and mutually beneficial cooperation, further promoting close ties between the School and its alumni, and enabling a two-way empowerment and shared prosperity.

Prof. Zhai Jingsheng, the dean of the School of Marine Science and Technology presented a development report outlining the progress of the school. He provided an overview of the school, including its faculty, talent cultivation, research framework, and social services, summarizing the achievements made over the past decade since its establishment and clarifying the future development goals for the school.

Prof. Zhai Jingsheng acknowledged that the progress of the school is greatly supported by the care and contributions of alumni, expressing a desire for closer collaboration with alumni in the future to achieve mutual growth and advancement for both the school and its alumni.

The newly elected president of the first Alumni Association, Shan Xiaolin, who is also the Party Secretary of the School of Marine Science and Technology, delivered a speech. He expressed his commitment to taking on the important responsibility of advancing the Alumni Association, leading the council members to actively engage in their work and striving to provide high-quality services and support for the alumni.

He pledged that the Alumni Association would strengthen the connections between alumni and the school, as well as among alumni themselves, fostering resource sharing and cooperative success. Shan emphasized that the association aims to make greater contributions to the development of the school and the progress of marine science endeavors.

The establishment of the Alumni Association of the School of Marine Science and Technology marks a significant new phase in the alumni relations efforts of the school. It is believed that with the joint efforts of all alumni and the faculty and students of the school, the Alumni Association will continue to grow and thrive, injecting new vitality into the development and construction of the school and contributing to the nation's marine initiatives.
